  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp

  • Black pepper powder - 2 tbsp

  • Jeera (cumin )powder - 1 tbsp

  • Red Chilli powder 1 tbsp

  • Garam masala powder - ½ tsp

  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp

  • Salt - 1½ tsp or as required

  • Gingelly oil - 3 tbsp

  • Few coriander leaves

  • Few curry leaves

Prep work :

Dice the mutton into small inch sized chunks.

Wash it thoroughly and rinse it 5 to 6 times until the water runs clear.

Then to a pressure cooker add the mutton pieces along with 2 cups of water, ½ tsp of salt and ½ tsp of turmeric powder and cook for 3 whistles over high flame.

Mean time, peel the outer layer of the shallots and after washing, grind it in a mixer grinder until it is of a coarse texture and keep aside.

Cooking method:

Pour the mentioned amount of oil to a heated cooking pan. Once the oil is hot, add the ground shallots, sauté for 2 minutes and then add the ginger garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw aroma leaves.

Then add the turmeric powder and salt and sauté for a minute.

Now add the coriander leaves and sauté for a minute.

Next add the black pepper powder, jeera powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder and saute for a minute.

Now add the cooked mutton pieces and mix it well. Then add the broth (around 2 cups which you get by cooking mutton with water in the pressure cooker)

Mix well and once it boils, close the lid and cook the mutton pieces over a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes, regularly stirring in between.

Look out for a semi gravy like consistency and switch off the flame .

Add fresh curry leaves and mix well.
